Shukan Ryu Karate started life as Penlan Karate Club in the summer of 1995 based at the then new Penlan Leisure Centre. Some years later classes were taught in the Gowerton and Waunarlwydd areas, where since 2001 the class now running at Waunarlwydd Community Centre was established. In the summer of 2004 Shukan Ryu started teaching at Llanelli Leisure Centre
Classes are for students of all ages, the main stream starting age is 6 years upwards. There are specialist classes for Pee Wee students aged 4 and 5 years.
